Mohsen Mahdawi speaks at “AN ARTIST RESPONDS TO WAR” (Glover)

Mohsen Mahdawi, Vermont-based Palestinian human rights advocate, will speak at several upcoming screenings of the film AN ARTIST RESPONDS TO WAR.

At each of the events, Mohsen Mahdawi will talk about his life growing up in Palestine in the West Bank, his work as an advocate for human rights in Palestine, and the current state of his legal battles to fight deportation by the Trump administration.

AN ARTIST RESPONDS TO WAR is a new documentary film that chronicles Bread & Puppet founder Peter Schumann's use of paintings, puppets and theater productions to protest war from the Vietnam War in the streets of New York City in the 1960s to the current genocide in Gaza. In an age desperate for hopeful figures of cultural resistance, this new film is a testament to the radical, enduring idea that art is not a retreat from the world — it is a way of fighting for it.

Filmmaker Robbie Leppzer will also speak at each of the screenings.
